East China’s Jiangsu province recorded exports of 1.33 trillion yuan from January to May, a year-on-year increase of 1.5%, according to statistics released by Nanjing Customs on Monday.
Since the beginning of this year, facing the severe situation of the slowing external demand and pressure on foreign trade, Jiangsu has taken multiple measures to promote the stability and quality of foreign trade so as to have improved the resilience of foreign trade.
At Jiangsu Weilan New Energy Battery Co., Ltd. located in Changzhou, more than 100 fully-automatic robotic arms were grasping and operating smoothly through precise coordination and positioning.
The solid-state lithium batteries developed by the company have achieved new breakthroughs in overseas market sales, resulting in a year-on-year increase of approximately 92% in the company"s output value from January to May.
“Solid-state lithium batteries, our company"s main product, has advantages such as higher energy density and larger battery capacity. The export of new solid-state lithium battery products has achieved a new breakthrough from scientific research investment to value output”, Guo Hao, Foreign Trade Manager of Jiangsu Weilan New Energy Battery Co., Ltd., said.
Changzhou is taking advantage of the favorable situations to build a manufacturing base for new energy vehicles and components, power batteries, solar photovoltaic and some other fields. Changzhou Customs customized export service packages that include the whole process of "declaration, inspection and release".
“The total export of lithium-ion batteries produced in Changzhou from January to May reached 3.18 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 64.2%, with the products primarily sold to Japan, Germany, France, the United States and countries along the "the Belt and Road" countries”, Li Hao, Deputy Director of Changzhou Customs, said.

Emerging markets have also become new growth points for Jiangsu"s foreign trade. In the first five months, Jiangsu recorded imports and exports of 327.02 billion yuan and 319.73 billion yuan to the European Union and ASEAN respectively, with an increase of 2.9% and 3.1%.
